2026 Chinese Government Scholarship - China Link Program Application Guide

1. Introduction
In 2026, Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) continues to accept outstanding international students and scholars to conduct short-term research and exchange in China for a period of 1 to 12 months through the Chinese Government Scholarship - China Link Program (hereinafter referred to as "China Link").
2. Funding Plan
2.1 Funding Categories:
General Scholars: Applicable to current undergraduate or master's students.
Senior Scholars: Applicable to current doctoral students or faculty members.
2.2 Duration:
1 to 12 months; the start date in China must be no later than August 31, 2027.
2.3 Language of Instruction:
English or Chinese, subject to the specific academic programs offered by SISU.
2.4 Fields of Study:
All academic majors are open for application, except for Chinese Language.
3. Scholarship Coverage
Recipients will receive a full scholarship during their stay in China. A monthly stipend is provided according to Chinese Government Scholarship standards:
· General Scholars: 3,000 RMB/month.
· Senior Scholars: 3,500 RMB/month.
4. Eligibility
(1) Must be a non-Chinese citizen in good physical and mental health.
(2) Age Requirements: Applicants for General Scholar programs must be under the age of 45; applicants for Senior Scholar programs must be under the age of 50.
(3) During the application and participation period, applicants must be full-time students or faculty members at a partner university of the China Scholarship Council (CSC). (Please refer to Annex 1 for the list of partner universities) .
(4) Must have obtained admission eligibility from SISU.
5. Application Process
(1) Applicants must contact SISU to obtain an admission notice or invitation letter at least 3 months prior to the planned start date. The steps are as follows:
1) Departmental Approval: Contact the relevant school or department directly (refer to Annex 2). Fill out and obtain the departmental approval for the SISU China Link Program Professional Application and Departmental Approval Confirmation Form (refer to Annex 3).
2) SISU Online Application: Visit the SISU International Student Online Application System (https://apply.shisu.edu.cn/c.asp?action=student_sign) to submit the China Link scholarship application. Once the major, duration, and confirmation form are verified, you will receive your Admission Notice via email.
(2) CSC Online Application: Log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete the scholarship application online (refer to Annex 4 for the operation guide).
After submitting the application, email the SISU Office of International Student Affairs (oisa@shisu.edu.cn) with the subject/content: [Full Name + CSC Application Serial Number + China Link Scholarship Application].
(3) Nomination and Result: SISU will process the applications and report the candidate list to the CSC two months before the student's arrival. The CSC will provide feedback on the results to SISU , and SISU will then notify the applicant of the final scholarship decision.
