According to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China on international students, international students MUST have valid insurance in China to study in the University, otherwise they cannot register for study. Among them:

1. Those who have studied for less than 180 days can purchase comprehensive insurance whose standard is not less than the following and can be used in China, or purchase comprehensive insurance with  no lower than the following standards:

1.1 The amount of death insurance (death or disability quota compensation) shall not be less than 100000 yuan;

1.2 medical insurance for personal accidental injury, with an insured amount of not less than 10000 yuan;

1.3 The amount of hospitalization medical insurance shall not be less than 400000 yuan.

2. For students with a study duration of more than 180 days, international student comprehensive insurance with coverage no lower than the aforementioned standard may be purchased from a life insurance company included in the list of legal persons of insurance institutions published by the National Financial Regulatory Administration, starting 3 days before the semester begins. The purchase and payment process below is for reference only. Please contact the relevant company if you purchase insurance through it.

3. After purchase, please bring your insurance policy (either electronic or paper copy) to the registration site for inspection.

4. Students funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship and other relevant Shanghai municipal government scholarships, as well as the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship, shall also purchase the required insurance through this method. If the above-mentioned scholarships include insurance premiums, the university will disburse them within three months after the semester starts. Students must provide their bank account information to the university in advance.

For scholarship students with a study period of less than three months, the university will handle the insurance purchase uniformly. Please do not purchase insurance repeatedly.
