1. At Hongkou campus: Chinese language (business, Chinese-English bilingual), Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), International economics and trade (Chinese), International politics (Chinese) *, translation (Chinese-English) *

★ Majors marked with “*” won’t be available unless there is an enrollment of 10 or above.

★Students can not apply for the majors related to their native language.


Ⅱ、Duration of Program

Four years. Admissions for all the majors are available in September every year. Admissions for Translation (Chinese-English) are available in March and September every year.

Ⅲ、Application Deadline

30th June for majors at Hongkou Campus
(31st December for spring entrance of Translation major)
15th May for majors at Songjiang Campus.


Ⅳ、Application Qualifications

Applications are open to foreign citizens with reliable financial support and stability who are senior-high-school graduates with an age between 18 and 50 and in good health. Residents from mainland China, Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan who have immigrated, must hold a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality for 4 years (including) or above, and provide the record or the certificate indicating that the passport holder actually lives overseas for more than 2 years. If passport holder actually lives abroad for 9 months in a year, it will be calculated as one year. 30th of April of admission year will be the deadline for calculating the length of time.


Ⅴ、Admission Requirements and Entrance Examinations

Majors at Hongkou Campus (NO ENTRANCE EXAMINATION)

1)Translation (Chinese - English): No requirement for Chinese language proficiency, but English proficiency of IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 60 is necessary (if you don’t have IELTS or TOEFL certificate, you need to pass the English proficiency test organized by our university).

2)Chinese Language, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180). Those with New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 195) may be enrolled to start from the second semester of the first year. Those, with New HSK level 5 (a total of no less than 180) and one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university, may be enrolled as sophomores. Students, who have an experience of 2year or above Chinese training at any Chinese university with Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 5 (a total of no less than 210), may be enrolled as juniors.

3) International Economics and Trade (Chinese), Business Administration (Chinese): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180). Students with New HSK level 5 (a total of no less than 180) may be enrolled to start from the second semester of the first year. Those, with New HSK level 6 (a total of no less than 180) and one year’s full-time Chinese training at any Chinese university, may be enrolled as Sophomores after passing an entrance examination organized by School of Chinese Studies and Exchange.

4)International Politics(Chinese): Applicants must have Chinese proficiency of New HSK level 4 (a total of no less than 180).

5)Applicants, who would like to study from the second semester of the first academic year, the second or the third academic year, need to pass the entrance examination organized by the School of Chinese Studies and Exchange. The dates are January 4 / February 16 for the second semester admission, and July 3 / August 23 for the second or third year admission.

2. Majors at Songjiang Campus (entrance examinations are required): HSK5 level or equivalent to the Chinese level. The entrance examination subjects includes Chinese, English and Mathematics。According to the requirements students have to participate in the examination of the corresponding subjects. The entrance examination is to be held in Shanghai on the last Saturday in May every year.


Ⅵ、Application Materials

1. A printed copy of SISU Online Application Form, Download link;

2. Diploma and academic record in original or notarized copy in English or Chinese. Applicants, who are about to graduate, can submit a certification of upcoming graduation;

3.Photocopy of HSK certificate (IELTS or TOEFL certificate is required for Translation major applicants);

4. Applicants who want to be enrolled as a sophomore shall also submit the certificate of full-time Chinese training and academic records in original or notarized copy in English or Chinese;

5. Photocopy of passport;

6.2 passport photos (in size of 5cm * 4cm);

7. Application fee: 450 RMB (or overseas transfer of 75 USD);

8. Entrance Examination fee: RMB 300 (or overseas transfer of 50 USD), only for majors at Songjiang Campus.

4.      Once admitted, the school will issue an《Admission letter》、《Visa Application Form for Study in China》(JW202 form)and《Foreigner Physical Examination record》.

5.      Students having 《Admission letter》,《Visa application Form for Study in China》(JW202 form)and《Foreigner Physical Examination record》issued by our school can apply for X1 visa to study in China at the People's Republic of China Embassy and Consulate office.

2)Insurance Fee

600 / Year

According to the regulation of the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China, all the international students who study in China should buy "Insurance for Overseas students" in mainland China.
