2026 Intensive Chinese Language Program (Hongkou Campus)
Ⅰ. Course Arrangement
The applicants of intensive Chinese program are international students who are preparing to enter Chinese universities for undergraduate study or who wish to improve Chinese proficiency in a short period of time. The teaching objectives are to build up students' Chinese language system, daily communicate or discuss a topic freely in Chinese by learning Chinese grammar and vocabulary in a short period of time. After one year intensive training, international students are expected to meet requirements for entering Chinese universities for undergraduate study, namely reach the Chinese language level of HSK 5.
Course Contents
1. Comprehensive Chinese courses: basic Chinese courses (grammar, conversation and vocabulary), listening, reading and conversation.
2. HSK intensive training courses: including listening, grammar, reading and comprehensive Chinese courses.
Course Levels
The intensive program is classified into three levels: beginner level, elementary level and intermediate level. (each level of class will be started with at least 10 students)
1. Beginner level is for students who don’t learn any Chinese before.
2. Elementary level is for students who learn Chinese in any of Chinese universities for at least one semester or have HSK2 certificate.
3. Intermediate level is for students who learn Chinese in any of Chinese universities for at least one academic year or have HSK3 certificate.
Ⅱ. Application deadline and registration arrangement
1. Application deadline for Spring semester: December 31, 2025; Application deadline for Autumn semester: June 30, 2026.
2. Time for registration: March 9 and 10, 2026 for Spring semester; September 9, 10,11, 2026 for Autumn semester.
3. Time for schooling:
From March 16, 2026 to July 10, 2026 for 2026 Spring semester intake, and completion certificate will be issues on July 12, 2026;
From September 21, 2026 to January 15, 2027 for 2026 Autumn semester intake, and completion certificate will be issued on January 17, 2027.
★There are 36 teaching hours per week, and one teaching hour equals 45 minutes.
Ⅲ. Eligibility
Foreigners with a high school diploma or above, aged 18 years or above and below 50 years old (16-60 years old for short-term transfer studies), in good health, with reliable financial payment guarantees and guardians. If you have ever studied or lived in China, you must not have any records of violations of laws and disciplines.
